Russian National Short Film Award was established by a production group “World of Art” in 2011:

1. “Best short movie of the year in professional association’s opinion”
2. “Best short movie of the year in audience’s opinion”

Winners of the Russian National Auteur Short Film Festival “Artkino”, awarded in one of categories or achieved institutors’ or jury’s diplomas, can enter into the competition for the Prize. The three best participants in Moscow audience’s opinion can be added to the list of candidates as well.

The Prize for the “best short movie in professional association’s opinion” is given according to the decision of Short Film Academy that was created to big up the status of short movie in Russia and to make determination the best of the best the most objective

At the moment the Film Academy consists of 160 the most famous Russian cineastes. The creation of such an academy in 2011 was very topical because neither “Golden Eagle Award” nor “Nika Award” had nominations in the area of short movie. But exactly short films discover new talents capable to considerably revitalize Russian film industry, give the audience back to film theatres and once again instill in them love of Russian cinema.

The Prize for the “best short film in audience’s opinion” is given in view to audience’s voting in 50 cities of Russia and CIS countries (Commonwealth of Independent States) where from October to the next September as a final stage of the festival the premier screenings take place.   

 

The best short movies 2015

After voting of the Short Film Academy which consists of 160 leading Russian cineastes the “best short movie in professional association’s opinion” was determined. This is the film “The Doctor” by Anna Goroian. The film reports about a doctor, who in war-time in Chechnya saves from death as much wounded people as he can regardless of their nationality. Along with this film the leaders are “Fedor’s journey throughout the Moscow of 21 century” by Aksinia Gog, “Nastia” by Kirill Pletnev, “The Unnecessary Creed” by Vladimir Mistukov and “Let the Wind Take My Words Away” by Ainur Askar. The last one is above all in the list based on audience’s voting in 50 Russian cities and can be justly called the “best short movie of the year in audience’s opinion”. The Grand Prize and People’s Choice Award were given at the Opening ceremony of the 9th festival “Artkino”.

The best short movie 2014

 Based on voting of the Short Film Academy “Artkino” consisted of 150 the most famous Russian cineastes, the film “Every single one” by Nikolai Kotiash won the competition. And there is nothing strange. Because in spring at the festival “When the Russian laugh” this film swept the French jury off their feet while they were choosing the best comedy of the 7 winners of the festival “Artkino”. Nikolai, my congratulations! You deserve it! 

At the official Opening ceremony of the 8th festival “Artkino” Nikolai was awarded with the Grand Prize of the 7th edition of the fest by Vladimir Khotinenko who remarked that “Artkino” is the only one festival all over the world where two main Prizes are given at the Opening ceremony of the next edition and after the screenings of the best films in 50 Russian cities.

The best short movie 2014 – 2

 Based on audience’s voting in 50 Russian cities we determined “the best short movie 2014 in audience’s opinion”. In the list of leaders are 7 films: “By Accident” by Jora Kryjovnikov, “Felix and His Love” by Evgenii Korchagin, “The Masons” by Daria Vlasova, “The Last One” by Sergei Pikalov, “The Matter of Principle” by Igor Korotkii, “Every Single One” by Nikolai Kotiash, “Hello, Father” by Natalia Kononenko, but according to final voting in 20 cities through the system of virtual filiations of State Russian Museum, Evgenii Korchagin seems to be a doubtless winner! His film “Felix and His Love” starring Svetlana Nemoliaeva, Alexander Lenkov and Igor Yasulovich was announced the “best short movie of the year in audience’s opinion”. On 21 September at the opening ceremony of the festival “Artkino” Evgenii Korchagin was given with People’s Choice Award by the head of one of the major Russian distribution companies “Luxor” Sergei Borisovich Sorochkin. Evgenii, congratulations! This Prize is very important! Now you can expect producers with very good job offers lined up behind the door! I wish you good luck and fast moving professional advancement on your own frequency!

 

 

The best short movie 2013 in professional association’s opinion

Along with the citizens of 50 Russian cities the 150 members of the Short Film Academy “Artkino”, created by a production group “World of Art”, voted for the best film of the year. The professionals have determined the best movie in terms of art. The winner is GALA SUKHANOVA with her film “Verification” – she has outran such significant competitors as “Little Shoes” by Konstantin Fam, “The Gull” by Elizaveta Stishova, “The Life After” by Yulia Novich and “The Saver” by Roman Artemiev. The winner was announced and awarded with the Grand Prize of the festival by the legendary Russian movie director and a jury member of the 7th festival “Artkino” Vadim Abdrashitov.

 

The best short movie 2013 in audience’s opinion

At the Opening ceremony of the 7th Russian National Auteur Short Film Festival “ARTKINO” the best movie 2013 in audience’s opinion was announced. It was determined by the audience’s voting in 50 cities of Russia and CIS countries where the final screening tour of the 6th festival “Artkino” took place. That is the film “Chip’n’Dale” by KAMILLA SAFINA starring Viktor Sukhorukov which wasn’t emphasized by the jury but succeed to be among the leaders of the festival thanks to Moscow people’s choice. The Russian National People’s Choice Award of the festival “Artkino” was given by the famous Russian filmmaker Sergei Selianov. When he saw that the winner was climbing the scene holding in arms a child, he remarked that she probably had already won her best prize. The week before the ceremony the Kamila Safina’s film was released at the Opening in the Russian Cinema Fan Club in Paris (the partner of the festival) in the presence of a very respectable French film critic who made a note of a brand new genre of the film – he called it “a slow comedy”. Kamila, my congratulations!

 

The winner of the festival “Artkino” 2012 is Timofei Jalnin with his film “F5” (nominated for the “best short movie 2012 in professional association opinion” and the “best short movie 2011 in audience’s opinion”).

 

 

The first winners of the Prize became Anar Abbasov with the film “Gurban” (nominated for the “best short movie 2011 in professional association’s opinion”) and Mikhail Mestetckii with the film “Negligeable Details of an Occasional Episode” (nominated for the “best short movie 2011 in audience’s opinion”).
